Jiménez-Porter Writers' House Events
The Jiménez-Porter Writers’ House hosts campus-wide events each semester, as well as regular programming specific to the Writers’ House community.
Writers Here and Now
Writers Here and Now is a visiting author speakers series co-hosted by the Jiménez-Porter Writers House and the Creative Writing Program. This event includes a reception with the authors for Writers’ House students, followed by a reading that is free and open to the public. Past authors we have hosted include Natalie Diaz, Ross Gay, Terrance Hayes, Mitchell S. Jackson, Claudia Rankine, Ocean Vuong and more. Find details about our upcoming Writers Here and Now events here.
Writers' House Retreat
The Writers’ House Retreat is an annual event we host each fall for current Writers’ House students. The day-long retreat includes community building activities, a scavenger hunt and an evening open mic around a campfire with s’mores.
Litfest
Each spring, we gather for Litfest to celebrate that year’s graduating class of Writers’ House students. At this event, we also honor winners of the Jiménez-Porter Literary Prize (also known as Litfest Contest) in poetry and prose, and release the annual issue of Stylus.
