GRADUATE STUDIES

ARHU is home to over 800 graduate students and boasts some of the top-ranked graduate programs in the United States.

UMD is just a 20-minute subway ride away from the heart of Washington, D.C. - a vibrant, diverse and exciting center of historic landmarks, research, community and social activism, artistic and entrepreneurial enterprises and entertainment. We're also located near an extraordinary array of cultural institutions such as the National Gallery, the National Archives, the Smithsonian Institution, the Folger Shakespeare Library, the Kennedy Center, the Corcoran Gallery, the Library of Congress, and more.

The college offers many ways to get involved as a graduate student, including the Dean’s Graduate Advisory Board, various student organizations such as the Graduate English Organization, The Society for the Interdisciplinary Studies of Performing Arts, and many others.

Our master's and doctoral students pursue a variety of careers with arts institutions, government agencies, non-profits, higher education and private organizations.
