The Washington Area Romanticists Group is pleased to host Joel Faflak (University of Western Ontario) for its Spring 2013 session.  The session will be on Saturday May 4, 2013 at 10AM in Tawes 3132 at the University of Maryland, College Park.  Refreshments, as always, will be served.  The title of Professor Faflak's paper is "The Persuasion of Happiness."  The talk will be on Jane Austen's Persuasion.

Joel Faflak is Associate Professor of English at the University of Western Ontario where he is also a graduate faculty member of the Centre for the Study of Theory and Criticism. He is the author of Romantic Psychoanalysis: The Burden of the Mystery (SUNY, 2007) and co-editor of, among a number of collections, A Handbook of Romanticism Studies (Wiley Blackwell, 2012). He is currently working on several book projects, including Romanticism and the Psychopathology of Happiness, from which his WARG talk will be drawn.
