MD Community Band 30th Anniversary Concert

College of Arts and Humanities | School of Music | The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center Friday, September 19, 2025 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm Dekelboum Concert Hall

About the Event

Join the Maryland Community Band as it celebrates its 30th anniversary with an exciting program of music (old favorites and new) and memorable photos and videos from past performances.  Founded by John Wakefield and Rich Sparks as a special outreach project of the University of Maryland Band Program, the group got its start with around 40 alumni and friends in Tawes Hall in January 1995.  The band has now grown to almost 90 members from all over the Greater Baltimore/Washington Area and serves to promote musical culture throughout the region.  You don't want to miss this symphonic blast from the past as we welcome back friends, family and even our favorite pirate conductor!
