Maryland Humanities Summer Institute: What’s So Wrong with Cheating?:

College of Arts and Humanities | Philosophy Friday, July 14, 2023 10:00 am - 11:15 am

Join us for the first session of the Maryland Humanities Summer Institute, presented by the Frederick Douglass Center for Leadership Through The Humanities. The institute will establish richer connections between UMD faculty and middle/ high school teachers in the region (and beyond) by supporting teachers’ intellectual and professional development around Humanities areas of study.

The institute features a series of FREE 60-75 minute Zoom seminars led by UMD faculty members. Seminars will be focused on giving teachers tools to enhance their pedagogical practices around specific topics.

Led by Associate Professor of Philosophy Hallie Liberto, this free 60-75 minute Zoom seminar will be a discussion on academic misconduct and moral questions. Liberto will guide participants through academic misconduct that is fraudulent, versus misconduct that is theft, versus misconduct that is sabotage, and discuss the moral features of each type that make it worth treating so seriously.
