In partnership with Wolf Trap Opera

In this special performance, NOI+F fellows take the reins in a program that combines chamber music playing with large ensemble performance. The 2022 NOI Philharmonic will perform without a conductor and lead each other in chamber orchestra repertoire by Aaron Copland, Reena Esmail and Georges Bizet. This unique collaboration features powerhouse soprano Tiffany Townsend, 2022 Wolf Trap Opera resident artist, in Samuel Barber’s ethereal setting of James Agee's idyllic and nostalgic poem, Knoxville: Summer of 1915.

This event is part of the National Orchestral Institute + Festival (NOI+F), a program of The Clarice at the University of Maryland. NOI+F trains aspiring orchestral musicians, composers, conductors and arts administrators from across the country in a month of dynamic music-making and professional exploration.
