Cantalupo’s scholarship focuses on the use of law to combat discriminatory violence, particularly gender-based violence. She is a nationally-recognized expert on gender-based violence in education, and her scholarship draws from her 20 years of anti-campus sexual violence work as a researcher, campus administrator, victims’ advocate, attorney, and policymaker. In August 2017 she published, with William C. Kidder, the essay, “Mapping the Title IX Iceberg: Sexual Harassment (Mostly) in Graduate School by College Faculty,” in the Journal of Legal Education. We're hoping this lecture will help kick-off other events scheduled this week which are all focused on gender-based violence: Occupy McKeldin, Wed 4/11, 10am-10pm, sponsored by Preventing Sexual Assualt (PSA) This 12-hour event which will feature a sit-in, educational workshops and trainings, voices from survivors on campus and beyond, guest speakers, and more. https://www.facebook.com/events/218080805605603/ Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, Fri 4/13, 1pm, McKedlin Mall (across from Main Admininstration), Sponsored by the Office of Civil Rights and Sexual Misconduct. This event is part of the International Men's March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault & Gender Violence. go.umd.edu/f5t For more announcments about upcoming events, visit the Department of Women's Studies online.
