Join us for a free concert in response to the ongoing violence in the Middle East and around the world that aims to provide space for reflection, mourning and a way to support each other in community.  

As we acknowledge how the devastation of war is affecting countless communities, we welcome all members of the UMD community and beyond to experience the power of music as a reminder of our interconnectedness. 

With performances from School of Music students and faculty, including members of the

UMD Jazz Ensemble

UMD Brass Ensemble

And John Holiday, School of Music associate professor

Special virtual presentation by the Jerusalem Youth Chorus 

The Jerusalem Youth Chorus (JYC) is an Israeli-Palestinian music and dialogue project that has been providing a space for young people from East and West Jerusalem to grow together in song and dialogue since 2012. Through the co-creation of music and the sharing of stories, the JYC empowers youth in Jerusalem with the responsibility to speak and sing their truths, as they become leaders in their communities and inspire singers and listeners around the world to work for peace, justice, inclusion and equality.
