Dr. Campbell is the 10th president of Spelman College (Atlanta, GA) and Dean Emerita of the Tisch School of the Arts (Philadelphia, PA) and served as the vice chair of the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities under former President Barack Obama.

“An American Odyssey” (2018) offers a full and vibrant account of the life of Romare Bearden and explores his years in Harlem (his studio was above the Apollo theater), to his travels and commissions, along with illuminating analysis of his work and artistic career.

The lecture is being held in conjunction with the Romare Bearden: Artist as Activist & Visionary exhibition. After the lecture, Dr. Campbell will be signing copies of her book.
