The Freedmen's Bureau Papers
The Freedmen’s Bureau Papers is a collection of millions of linear feet of paper records – logs and letters – that were collected during the administration of these bureau offices throughout the Amercian South during the years of Reconstruction (1865-1877). Nearly all of these papers have been digitized, but, few of them have been transcribed, which means they are searchable and can be indexed. Read more about this project here.
