Erin Thompson will discuss her book "Smashing Statues: The Rise and Fall of America's Public Monuments," which gives an extensive history of the memorials we build, why we build them and asks us to consider the history behind some of the most revered statues. This talk will be moderated by Tess Korobkin, assistant professor of American Art.
