Cinematic Soundscapes: Pops with John Morris Russell

Cincinnati Pops Orchestra conductor John Morris Russell, a long-time NOI+F collaborator, opens the 2022 festival with favorites from cinematic music. Sway with Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from “West Side Story” and reach beyond the stars with Michael Giacchino’s Voyage in honor of NASA's 60th anniversary. Internationally renowned Romanian violinist and UMD School of Music associate professor of violin Irina Muresanu also joins this performance for Korngold’s brilliant Violin Concerto. This opening weekend of the 2022 festival also features John Williams’ magical blockbuster the Harry Potter Suite.



This event is part of the National Orchestral Institute + Festival (NOI+F), a program of The Clarice at the University of Maryland. NOI+F trains aspiring orchestral musicians, composers, conductors and arts administrators from across the country in a month of dynamic music-making and professional exploration.
