August 8-11: Emily Dickinson World Citizen

The Emily Dicikinson International Society celebrates its 25th year, and welcomes scholars from all over the world--China, Australia, Japan, Russia, France, Italy, England and many other countries.

Besides our own Elizabeth Arnold, Marilyn Nelson, David Keplinger, and Joseph Donahue will be reading their poetry (and Donahue will be offering the banquet plenary, "'The way I read a letter's this': Selections from TERRA LUCIDA").

Also, folk singer Sofie Livebrant from Sweden will be offering some of her songs based on Dickinson's poems, as will University of North Carolina Professor William Andrews.

Carl Bode Dissertation Prize 2012 winner Laura Lauth is delivering, "Going 'Trans' with Bettina Brentano von Arnim: A New Literary History of Translation and Transgression in the Transcultural U.S., 1830-1890." UM PhD Eleanor Heginbotham (now Professor Emerita Concordia University St. Paul) will be giving a talk about her new collection of essays, DICKINSON'S FASCICLES: A SPECTRUM OF POSSIBILITIES (OSUP 2013).
