The theme of the 18th-century Reading Group's series this year
is “Theater and Performance in the Global 18th Century.” Paul Goring,
Norwegian University of Science and Technology, will give a talk,
“Charles Macklin and Eighteenth-Century Theatre Culture,” drawn from his
current research as a fellow at the Folger. Professor Goring is the
author of The Rhetoric of Sensibility in Eighteenth-Century Culture (Cambridge UP, 2005).
