Symphonic Celebration: UMD Wind Orchestra • LIVESTREAM
ABOUT THE EVENT
Michael Votta, Jr., music director
Join us for the University of Maryland Wind Orchestra’s season debut with a program that explores the emotional range of French music for winds. From Igor Stravinsky’s memorial Symphonies of Wind Instruments, composed to honor his friend Claude Debussy, through the joy, contemplation and grief of a terminally ill Lili Boulanger in D’un matin de printemps and D’un soir triste, to the bacchanalian fetes of Florent Schmitt’s virtuosic Dionysiaques this performance is sure to be evocative.
