Fifty-one ARHU proposals received Teaching Innovation Grants to enhance student learning and engagement for Fall 2020.

Reimagined online printmaking courses with high quality technical demonstrations. Technology to enable real-time practice in Chinese, French, German, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Spanish courses. And portable recorders for 450 School of Music students to capture and upload high-quality recordings of auditions, lesson assignments, performances and research.

These are among the upgrades coming to courses and programs across the College of Arts and Humanities (ARHU) this fall, as learning will remain primarily online due to COVID-19. In total, 51 ARHU proposals received Teaching Innovation Grants to improve the use of educational technology to enhance student learning and engagement with online course material during the Fall 2020 semester.

The grants, which were awarded by the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost across 12 ARHU departments and one Living-Learning Honors Program, have allowed faculty members to spend the summer exploring new tools, technology and pedagogies.

Across the university, 309 proposals were submitted and 286 were at least partly funded, with an average grant size of $13,000.
