Professor of Philosophy John Horty will give a lecture titled "How can AI learn human norms and values?" Artificial Intelligence (AI) will soon be integrated into all aspects of our lives. How can we design AI systems to learn human norms and values? Professor Horty will discuss different approaches to this question, including one he proposes based on ideas first introduced in moral and legal philosophy, and then developed in the field of AI and law. He will illustrate how philosophical ideas can have a direct impact on current work in AI, and also how problems from AI can open up new areas for exploration in philosophy.
