Kali Malone, organ: All Life Long

Kali Malone, organ: All Life Long

College of Arts and Humanities | The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center Thursday, May 7, 2026 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm UMD Memorial Chapel

About the Event

Writing for The New Yorker, critic Alex Ross called the American composer and organist Kali Malone's live performance of her recent album All Life Long , "immaculately crafted... pristine and forbidding, redolent of the austere polyphony of the late Middle Ages and the early Renaissance." Malone creates post-minimalist pieces that incorporate drone, chamber ensemble, brass orchestra, pipe organ and a resonant sense of the sacred. Her music offers ample space for reflection and revelation. Following her tour of Europe at the start of 2025, Malone's Clarice Presents debut will take place at the University's Memorial Chapel, where she will take full advantage of the facility's historically important 65-year-old M.P. Moller Pipe Organ to perform a set of uniquely patient and thoughtful original works. Malone will be joined by a select vocal and brass ensemble for a memorable celebration of sound that promises to be both emotionally and intellectually stimulating.
