“Hesperia” is a poetic homage to the cultural and mythical crossings of the Mediterranean and Atlantic, tracing exile, rebirth, and the eternal quest for home. For more information, check the event website

Hesperia is a lyrical kaleidoscope and homage to the territorial and maritime expressions of the European, African, Mediterranean, and Atlantic regions. It sails through the Columns of Hercules and the Hesperides Gardens, referencing the Hebrew root for Sepharad in the Iberian Peninsula –a destination for the errant Jew.
It touches on Al-Andalus and the Orient as one of the cradles known of language from the Tigris and Euphrates. It points to eternal existence and the rebirth of light, Hesperus (Venus) is Phosphorus, and the Titan Atlas, holder of the universe and baptizer of the Ocean. Over there, humanity has never ceased to search for shelter and crosswinds, but also has suffered conflict as well as repetitious expulsions bound to safe heavens, discoveries and encounters as the lost Atlantis and Ultima Thule.
Come and join this transnational aesthetic crew on its voyage in the multicultural and multilingual Hesperia as it heaves, pitches, and sways through the eternal waters of exile and migration, seeking shelter amidst political crosswinds, and endless moments of danger. This journey, a beacon of hope, is charted by poetry, images, and music, embarking yet again toward the promise of liberty.
