George Levitine Lecture in Art History
Prof. Steven Ostrow presents "Cartelas que engañan: Some Historical and Theoretical Reflections on the Cartellino in Spanish Golden Age Painting."
The Middle Atlantic Symposium in the History of Art is hosted by the University of Maryland's Department of Art History and Archaeology and by the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts, National Gallery of Art. Nine graduate art-history programs participate in the symposium, which provides an opportunity for advanced graduate students to present their research. The 2011 sessions will be held on Friday, April 1, and Saturday, April 2, at both the National Gallery of Art and the University of Maryland.
As part of the symposium, Steven Ostrow, Professor and Chair, Department of Art History, University of Minnesota, will present the George Levitine Lecture on Friday, April 1, 6-7:30 pm in room 2203 of the Art/Sociology Building. The title of his talk is "Cartelas que engañan: Some Historical and Theoretical Reflections on the Cartellino in Spanish Golden Age Painting."
