Join the Meyerhoff Center for our next Five Points lecture, presented by Seth Schwartz, Lucius N. Littauer Professor of Classical Jewish Civilization at Columbia University. Prof. Schwartz research interests are social, cultural and political history of the ancient Jews, with strong interests in their Hellenistic, Roman and early Christian environments. Prof. Schwartz is the author of numerous books and articles, including the field-transforming monograph Imperialism and Jewish Society, 200 BCE to 640 CE (2001), which forced a generation of scholars to rethink their understanding of the historical shift from the Second Temple period to rabbinic Judaism.
