Alex Johnson

Alex is a homegrown Marylander who has held various positions in the state government prior to UMD, including the Investigations Division of the Motor Vehicle Administration and the Mediation and Conflict Resolution Office of the Maryland Judiciary. She joined the UMD staff in late 2023 after several years in the corporate world, and now serves as the Assistant to Dean Shonekan. She graduated summa cum laude with a 4.0 from UMGC in 2021, and is a member of both Pi Gamma Mu and Alpha Sigma Lambda honors societies. She has also been active in various social justice movements and groups, particularly those concerning reproductive rights and LGBTQIA+ rights and safety.  In her spare time, she is a voracious reader and lover of trivia, karaoke, and all things TTRPG.
