Her True-True Name: Celebration/Conference
Join us for a celebration and conference commemorating the 1989 publication of Her True-True Name, a collection of creative writing by women from the Caribbean, at home and in the diaspora.
The collection, published by Heinemann and edited by Pamela Mordecai and Elizabeth (Betty) Wilson, introduced to the reading public writers from the various language groups of the Caribbean. Among writers published were Ana Lydia Vega (Puerto Rico), Dionne Brand (Trinidad and Tobago) and Maryse Condé (Guadeloupe). The conference will include both writers and scholars presenting about the work of the various language-groups.
This event is sponsored by the Center for Literary & Comparative Studies, the Latin American Studies Center, the Office of International Affairs and Global Classrooms.
