UMD Film Studies Symposium: Constellations of the Political

Join the School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (SLLC) for the UMD Film Studies Symposium, "Constellations of the Political: Media and Representation in the Neoliberal Age."   The symposium will kick off with a talk by our own Luka Arsenjuk, Associate Professor, Film Studies at UMD and will continue with five (5) lectures by an exciting group of invited speakers.<br /><br /> Two keynote lectures, both on Friday, April 20th, will be presented by Alberto Toscano, Reader in Critical Theory at Goldsmiths, London at 11 a.m. and Jodi Dean, Professor of Political Science at Hobart and William Smith, at 4 p.m.   Additionally, Nicole Fleetwood, Associate Professor of American Studies at Rutgers University will present, “Aesthetics from the Penal Hole” on Friday, April 20th at 2:15 p.m. with Julius Fleming as respondent.   We are looking forward to a timely discussion about the conjuncture of politics and media representation today, and we hope many of you will join the conversation.   For more information, visit SLLC <a href="http://sllc.umd.edu/events/constellations-political">online here</a>.   <p>  </p>
